Darnytsia’s Export Director at Global Today: On Uzbekistan’s Potential for Ukrainian Pharma

Recently, Darnytsia’s Export Director, Gurgen Karapetyan, together with other Ukrainian business representatives -Valeriy Krasovsky (Sigma Software), Serhiy Hryshkov (Uklon), and Valeriya Tolochina (Megogo) - took part in a panel discussion focused on investment opportunities and the export potential of Uzbekistan for Ukrainian businesses. The event was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kyiv.

According to Gurgen Karapetyan, the Uzbekistan market is currently one of the key export destinations for Darnytsia. In 2025, Uzbekistan accounted for 28% of the company’s exports, whereas in the first quarter of 2026, this figure increased to 50%. In March this year, Darnytsia successfully passed an inspection by the local regulator, opening up new opportunities for registering medicines sought after in the Uzbek market and further development in the dynamic pharmaceutical sector, which serves a population of over 37 million.

The Export Director also noted that, despite increasing demand for medicines in Uzbekistan, domestic pharmaceutical production remains limited. In response, recent local reforms are facilitating access for foreign pharmaceutical companies. Thus, Darnytsia, together with local partners, is already expanding its presence in Uzbekistan to provide citizens with effective Ukrainian medicines.

The event at the embassy was part of the Global Today series, supported by the Kyiv International Economic Forum and Sense Bank.
