Opportunities for Including Ukrainian Medicines in European Supply Chains Discussed in Brussels. Darnytsia Participates in Delegation

A series of negotiations recently took place in Brussels between a Ukrainian delegation and representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission.

The delegation included representatives of Darnytsia, other Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers, and relevant government agencies, including Mykhailo Radutskyi, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Public Health, Medical Care, and Health Insurance, as well as Maryna Slobodnichenko, Deputy Minister of Health for European Integration.

The main topic of the meetings was Ukraine’s potential participation in joint European procurement of essential medicines within the framework of the Critical Medicines Act (CMA).

To recap, the CMA is an initiative of the European Commission aimed at improving the availability of essential medicines in the EU. These medicines include antibiotics, insulin, pain relievers, vaccines, as well as treatments for chronic and acute conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes.
Expanding European supply chains to involve Ukrainian manufacturers creates additional opportunities for Darnytsia to access the EU market and participate in international tenders. Ukrainian pharmaceutical producers possess all necessary resources for such cooperation.

During the negotiations, Kostiantyn Vashchenko, Government Relations Director at Darnytsia, emphasized: “We are not asking for any privileges or preferences. Ukrainian manufacturers are ready to become full-fledged partners in strengthening Europe’s pharmaceutical security.”

Darnytsia offers a broad portfolio of essential medicines, particularly for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, pain management, neurological, and mental disorders. Over four years of full-scale war, the company has registered 20 new medicines outside Ukraine and entered the markets of nine countries, including Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Israel, Poland, and the Baltic states. Today, Darnytsia's products are present in more than 20 countries worldwide.
