Parenteral administration of the medicine is indicated in acute and severe infection or when oral administration is impossible, for the following diseases and conditions:
– anaerobic systemic infections caused by ornidazole-sensitive microflora: septicaemia, meningitis, peritonitis, postoperative wound infections, postpartum sepsis, septic abortion, and endometritis;
– prevention of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria in surgical interventions (especially in surgery on the colon and rectum), in gynaecological surgery;
– severe amoebic dysentery, all extra-intestinal forms of amoebiasis, giardiasis, liver abscess.
