  • Eric Vermetten (USA) with the lecture "The Trajectory of PTSD After War"

    Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Clinical Psychiatrist, who works with veterans and other officers as a strategic advisor in the Military Mental Health Service at the Dutch Ministry of Defense and the ARQ National Psychotrauma Center. He is the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Leiden University Medical Center. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the New York University Medical Center. He received his education in the Netherlands, as well as in the USA in the field of psychiatry and neurology (Stanford, Yale, and Emory Universities). He is involved in both clinical and research activities with an emphasis on the biomedical and psychiatric aspects of complex psychotrauma in military and civilian individuals. His research concerns stress, trauma, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and neurology. He is interested in the history of war and pays special attention to combining biological interventions in psychotraumatology with new technologies and the development of new drugs, including MDMA, psilocybin, ketamine, and medical cannabis.
