Darnitsa Maintained Leadership by Volume of Sold Medicines in 2019

According to the results of 2019, the Pharmaceutical Firm “Darnitsa” manufactured and sold 152.7 million packs of medicinal products, which is equal to 13.76% of the total number of medicines sold in Ukraine and almost twice the sales of the closest competitor.

Every seventh pack of medicines in Ukraine is manufactured under the Darnitsa logo.

According to Proxima Research, the total volume of the retail drug market in Ukraine amounted to 1,109,732 packs last year, and decreased by 2.8% as compared with the same indicator in 2018.

By value the market increased by 15.22% — to UAH86 billion.

The Pharmaceutical Company “Darnitsa” was founded in 1930. Since 1998 it has been the leader in the manufacture of drugs by volume in Ukraine. The company's portfolio includes about 280 finished pharmaceutical products. In 2018, the company increased its net profit by 37.3%. The beneficiaries of Darnitsa are the Zahorii family. Last year, Darnitsa carried out its rebranding and renewed the packaging design for over-the-counter medicines. The changes reflect the company's new strategic goals, among which are digitalization, leadership in the segment of complex generics and creation of an international pharmaceutical brand.
