Darnitsa restored pre-war production figures

The pharmaceutical company Darnitsa restored pre-war production figures after a 40% reduction in March. Already in April, the company restored normal production output, and in some areas even exceeded that level, - Dmytro Shymkiv, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Darnitsa said in his interview with Forbes.

"When the full-scale invasion began, the company decided not to suspend production. Some production lines even had to be reactivated because the demand for ampoules increased. In general, ampoule production increased by 21%, and production of solutions for infusion - by 44%, the output of tablets decreased by 3% compared to pre-war level," Dmytro Shymkiv said.

Insofar as the company's main focus now is to provide Ukrainians with the necessary drugs, the share of exports has decreased slightly. But the share of Darnitsa's hospital purchases in March 2022 increased from about 8% to 40% of the portfolio. At the same time, pharmacy sales in hryvnia have dropped in the market in general. Thus, if in February the sales increased by 45% compared to the last year, in March they decreased by 11%, and in April - by 40%.

In addition, the company shipped 1.3 million packages of free medicines totalling UAH 108.7 million.

"If we add 10,000 packages of Celox, which were purchased in the first days of the war, the figure will be even more," Dmytro Shymkiv added.

According to the pharmaceutical company, the greatest demand of Ukrainians is now for drugs to control blood pressure (+23%), analgesics (+51%) and psycholeptics (+56%).
