Darnitsa Took Part in Africa Health International Exhibition
Domestic pharmaceutical company Darnitsa took part in Africa Health, the international exhibition held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Africa Health, the most influential healthcare exhibition on the continent of Africa, this year gathered more than 7,000 participants from more than 55 countries of the world. The event was attended by the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of the pharmaceutical sector.
The African market is attractive for pharmaceutical expansion, and several factors contribute to this. First of all, the growth rate of the economy – the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of the market is 6.5% in 2021-2025. So, by 2025, the pharmaceutical market will reach $31 billion. The regulatory factor also plays a significant role. Complex regulatory restrictions, new pricing policies, incentives for localization, substitution for generic drugs will be introduced by 2024. Most African countries recognize Ukrainian Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certificates without on-site inspection. And finally, there is the medical factor. The morbidity patterns reflect modern medical problems and include cardiovascular, neurological diseases and infections that have been added to those previously common on the African continent, such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
“As a large pharmaceutical manufacturer, Darnitsa is interested in various types of cooperation: B2B and B2G, technology transfer, joint development and transfer of dossiers. Participation in the exhibition was extremely efficient: we have already signed the first contract for the supply of 11 Darnitsa’s products to South Africa. We also started fruitful cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in South Africa, which is responsible for 10 promising markets of South Africa with the population of 155 million people and the GDP of 1 trillion dollars (Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Mauritius, Madagascar, Eswatini, Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa),” Oleksandr Torhun, Director for Export and Regulatory Affairs, noted.
