Just Before Christmas, Darnytsia Received the Peace Light of Bethlehem
Darnytsia Pharmaceutical Company accepted the Peace Light of Bethlehem from Plast, the national scout organization of Ukraine.
The distribution of the Light of Bethlehem is an international Scout event that takes place every year before Christmas. Its main purpose is to spread a symbolic fire from the birthplace of Jesus Christ to all who need it. The Light is a symbol of good deeds and support.
The idea originated in Linz, Austria, in 1986, when the Austrian broadcaster ORF brought the Light for those who celebrated Christmas away from home — in hospitals, orphanages, and places of detention. The tradition was quickly picked up by the Scouts, and the event became international.
Since 1998, Ukrainian Plast scouts have been receiving the Peace Light of Bethlehem from Polish scouts, distributing it throughout Ukraine.
This year, the Peace Light of Bethlehem arrived in Ukraine on 15 December directly from Linz. A week later, it was handed over to Darnytsia.
"At present, our country is facing unprecedented challenges. War has become a part of our everyday lives. We are learning not just to survive in this reality, but also to be effective and humane. We know well that one small light from Bethlehem can light millions of candles around the world, and one good deed can warm thousands of hearts. Even the darkest darkness can be dispelled by one small light. This should be remembered on the eve of the bright holiday of Christmas," said Olha Spizhova, a representative of Plast, the national scout organization of Ukraine.
"We are sincerely happy to welcome the Peace Light of Bethlehem at Darnytsia. For us, it is not just a flame, but a light of hope that crosses thousands of kilometers to warm hearts and remind us how important it is to support each other, show care and give love. After all, there is good within everyone and it is important to share it. And it is also a reminder that even in the darkest times it is important to see the light and to keep hoping," emphasized Olena Sokolova, People Director at Darnytsia Pharmaceutical Company, welcoming the Peace Light of Bethlehem.
