Despite the war, Ukrainian doctors continue to improve their qualifications

17 June 2022

In June, educational activities in the medical sector in Ukraine came to life. In particular, a series of online trainings for doctors from different fields took place. They focused on topical topics: peculiarities of disease diagnosis during wartime states and treatment in extreme conditions, the impact of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) on patients, radiation and chemical injuries. These events are actively attended by international experts who share their professional experience with Ukrainian doctors.

Despite the destruction of the medical infrastructure during the war, namely more than 105 healthcare facilities that cannot be rebuilt and difficult working conditions, doctors not only save lives, but also take care to improve their skills.

The scientific and practical conference “X Academic School of Pediatrics” brought together about 10,000 specialists. The event was organized under the support of the International Medical Association. Leading specialists from Germany, Great Britain, the Baltic States, Israel and Poland made speeches. The participants received both national and foreign Certificates of Participation.

“Kyiv Dermatology Days 2022” Congress was also held. It is hardly the only medical scientific event in Ukraine to bring together dermatovenerologists, allergists, immunologists and doctors of related fields and highlight common scientific approaches to treatment. More than 4 thousand specialists registered for the event this year.

The All-Ukrainian Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine continued the clinical school on arterial hypertension. Following a lengthy break, the final session of the Ukrainian Lipid School also took place.

The educational events are supported by pharmaceutical companies, in particular the domestic pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa”, Ukraine`s largest medicine manufacturer.* As it was previously reported, the company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, held a series of educational webinars for doctors on “Emergency Care in Combat Situations”.

“The aim of “Darnitsa” is to contribute to the professional development of doctors in Ukraine, as the health of the nation depends on it. In June, we were partners in conferences on pediatrics, dermatology, cardiology, and also organized events on PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and emergency care in combat situations. Doctors now work in a completely different environment, in war conditions, and therefore we need not only to take care of advanced training, but also to update some specific knowledge, which is almost unnecessary in peacetime,” - said Aelita Reva, Director of Marketing and Sales of OTC pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa”.
