Darnytsia Shares Lean and WCM Implementation Experience with Nova Poshta
Darnytsia Pharmaceutical Company held a meeting with representatives of Nova Poshta, during which it shared its practices for improving operational processes based on the Lean approach and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) system.
For more than eight years, Darnytsia has been developing a Lean culture, which helps the company remain efficient, flexible, and technologically advanced. Starting with its first initiatives in 2016, we have continuously improved processes, implemented digital solutions, automated reporting, and fostered a culture of continuous improvement. In 2023, the company took a new strategic step by launching WCM implementation.
WCM enables the systematic identification and elimination of losses, improvement of quality, reduction of costs, and development of employee engagement. Today, the company has already implemented seven classic WCM pillars, including “Safety,” “Quality Control,” “Planned Maintenance,” and “Kaizen.” Darnytsia is also actively developing other areas, such as the “Office Pillar.”
The practical tools used by Darnytsia teams include Why-analysis, Ishikawa diagram, Makigami, DMS, OPL, Poka-Yoke, 5W, and many others.
An important element of the system is employee involvement in idea submission—just in 2023, 57 ideas were implemented, and in 2024, already 57 out of 176 submitted on the internal innovation platform “DARideya.”
During the meeting with Nova Poshta, participants discussed approaches to creating a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and scaling successful practices. Colleagues from Nova Poshta highly appreciated Darnytsia’s achievements and noted the depth of its systematic approach to transforming production culture.
“Lean is not just a set of tools, but a philosophy of thinking that unites the team around a common goal—to become better every day. We see how people’s initiative and openness to change deliver real results for both the company and our consumers,” said Darnytsia’s Chief Operations Officer, Yevhenii Cherkas.
The company will continue to develop Lean and WCM culture, implement innovations, and remain a leader of change in the pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine.
