“Cloud” Services Enable Darnitsa to Manage Corporate Communications Effectively Without Spending Extra Resources on Cybersecurity
Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company plans to continue developing its corporate communication system and information system based on “cloud” solutions that ensure efficient management, rational use of resources and do not require additional investment in cybersecurity.
Dmytro Shymkiv, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Darnitsa Group, visited one of the business podcasts dedicated to the development and use of “cloud” services in the Ukrainian business environment. The top manager believes that the business, which relies on information technology, faces the following main challenges: the affordability of digital solutions, optimization of the interaction of employees and departments and cybersecurity. And “cloud” services beat the usual, server architecture in all these categories.
First of all, “cloud” service providers usually have tried-and-true solutions to counter cyber threats and can effectively monitor data flows and scan files and documents. In other cases, the safety of “clouds” is provided by outside specialists. According to Dmytro Shymkiv, due to this, document management and corporate communication in general are much safer and cheaper in the “cloud” service than maintaining your own servers and hiring a staff of cybersecurity specialists.
At the same time, “clouds” offer much more opportunities to create a common information system that allows you to unite all employees of the company in a single network. This has a positive effect on the relationship between employees and the management and makes it possible to make collective decisions that are important for the company much faster.
“We at Darnitsa have a large number of people who work directly in production. But they all have the right to access certain information resources of the company. We have provided them with such access through the use of “cloud” services. We don't need to buy all the applications that “white collars” need for them,” Dmytro Shymkiv said. “People who work in production are a part of the company, and they must have access to their resources and information. The question is how to organize communication with them in a secure mode, without building complex data centers.”
The effect of “cloud” services on the human resources component of doing business is not limited to internal networks for employees only. According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of DarnitsaGroup, “clouds” unite a significant number of information professionals (network engineers, information security specialists, system administrators, etc.) who ensure their functioning. And a company that uses a “cloud” service, in fact, uses the services of these specialists without having to compete for them in the labor market.
“We need to update technologies, use new opportunities, have access to specialists who are adequate in pricing. This also applies to consulting: today consulting in Azure, Office 365 and other “cloud” services is much cheaper than consulting in building a complex data center,” said Dmytro Shymkiv.
