Two-Thirds of Ukrainians Avoid Businesses that Remain in Russia. Darnytsia Reminds: We Exited Back in 2015
62% of Ukrainians do not purchase goods and services from companies that still operate in the Russian market. This is according to data from the international consulting agency Deloitte. This shifts the focus from financial gain to reputation, transparency, and the civic stance of brands.
One of the first Ukrainian companies to adopt this strategy was the pharmaceutical company Darnytsia.
As early as 2014, with the onset of Russian aggression, the company announced the cessation of its operations in Russia. And since 2015, it has not sold a single package of its products in Russia, despite the high demand for Ukrainian medicines among Russian consumers.
"We exited Russia when it was not yet a common requirement. And we do not plan to return — even after our victory. Business cannot exist outside the dimension of life," commented Kateryna Zagoriy, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors at Darnytsia.
After the full-scale invasion in 2022, Darnytsia annulled all registration certificates in Russia and Belarus. At the same time, the company audited over 6,000 contractors and terminated cooperation with all those who had business ties with the markets of the aggressors, including Ukrainian residents.
"We do not trade in blood. This is not a matter of profit, it is a matter of values," the company emphasized back in 2022.
Darnytsia asserts the immutability of this strategy. A complete rejection of any — even indirect — business ties with Russia is part of the company's value foundation.
Today, when choosing Darnytsia products, consumers support a responsible national manufacturer that made a principled decision even before 2022 — in favor of the country, not the market.
